CILICIA, Anazarbus. Severus Alexander. AD 222-235. Æ Hexassarion (35mm, 19.02 g, 12h). Dated CY 249 (AD 230/1). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, seen from the front / Severus Alexander standing left, wearing radiate crown, holding scepter and sacrificing from patera over lighted altar to his left; to left, Nike standing right, holding wreath, atop tetrastyle temple seen in perspective; ЄT ΘMC (date) to right. Ziegler 628 (Vs1/Rs3); RPC VI Online 7366; SNG BN –; SNG von Aulock 5495. Red-brown patina, a few scratches. Near VF. Very rare, five known to RPC.
